The Northampton County First-Time Homebuyer Program provides subordinate forgiveness mortgages to eligible first-time buyers of Northampton County homes.  Applicants must attend and receive certification of completion from a HUD certified/affiliated First-Time Homebuyers Counseling Program in our area.  It is required that applicants complete a program and receive a certificate prior to closing.

 

When the Applicant has received certification, he/she may proceed directly to an approved lender to make application for a First Mortgage.  The subordinated mortgage available through this Program can be initially estimated by an approved counseling agency, realty agent or loan representative, and will be definitively calculated by the first mortgage lender

 

Applications will be received and reviewed by the Northampton County Department of Community and Economic Development (NCDCED) continuously throughout the year.  Applications can be acquired through the first mortgage lender.  When, and if, funds are depleted, the approved, but non-funded applications, will be held to await additional funding.
